My name is Joe Jardim-Hinds and I’m a Play Therapist, Filial Play Coach and Trainee Clinical Supervisor with Play Therapy UK. In March I travelled to Hong Kong to partake in an acapella festival in my singing group. I’ve also recently taken on a role developing CPD for PTUK and as part of that I really wanted to explore cultural impacts, similarities or differences on Play Therapy practice. So whilst I was there on 1st April 2024 I went to meet the Play Therapy Hong Kong team, their coordinator Berenice and fellow therapists: Angela and Pheon. They even took me out for a Thai/Vietnamese meal by the harbour and gave me a traditional Chinese toy to add to my playroom. Whilst we were there, we talked openly about our experiences of UK vs HK.
